There are as many ways to make a book by hand as there are artists who make them. Handmade books offer a wealth of possibilities for creative expression, combining visual content with text and structure. You can also simply make a beautiful blank book to use as a journal or album. In this workshop we will first make a book from a prepared kit so that you can quickly learn the basic book parts, structure, and sewing technique. Next we will begin a book from scratch, so you learn how to make all the parts yourself. I will also demonstrate various ways to decorate your book cover and show examples of variations on the basic technique.
